West Bay (Lochmara)

This is the most sheltered of the bays in Lochmara Bay and is safe in all winds except gale force SE.

There are a large number of moorings around the bay but plenty of room to anchor. Various cables are laid across the bottom of the bay so care must be take when anchoring there.

West Bay is much like a small village with its many baches and holiday homes, meaning it can be very busy.

The head of the bay is shallow within 100 m of the shore.

If one can find space, the holding can be quite good.
