This is a popular resort area with direct road connection to Nelson and French pass.
There are several sandy beaches and a water-ski lane. A small wharf extends from the western shore.
Holiday homes surround the bay which is very shallow and should only be visited in high spring tides.
Because of the lack of depth it is very difficult to anchor out of the wind, although there is good holding in sandy bottom anywhere in the bay.
Trailer boats are launched from the beach.
