Oil spill response underway at Waitaria Bay, Marlborough Sounds

The Marlborough Harbourmaster is responding to a probable fuel spill from a 52-foot vessel which has reportedly sunk near the jetty at Waitaria Bay, Kenepuru Sound, Marlborough Sounds.

The vessel has 2,000 litres of diesel on board, plus 60 litres of engine oil.

A team of six trained responders with oil spill management gear including booms is being despatched from Havelock on board the Harbourmaster vessel Resolution. Additional vessels are available to assist the response if needed.
