A new Port Lateral marine beacon has been installed at the head of the Waikawa Bay Marina, Southern Breakwater.
This beacon will provide additional assistance to mariners transiting the marina entrance, alongside the Starboard Lateral beacon on the Northern Breakwater.
Information for the new Port Lateral beacon are as follows:
• Name - Waikawa Bay Marina. S Breakwater
• Location - 41 15.88 S – 174 02.36 E
• Flash character – Fl R 3 seconds
• Flash sequence – fl 0.5, ec 2.5
• Elevation – 3m • Range – 2nm
• Structure – grey metal pole on breakwater head
The Marina Approaches beacon located on the Southern Breakwater remains in place and functioning. This beacon will be renamed by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) as ‘Waikawa Bay Marina Approaches’.
