Picton Marina

Picton Marina sits at the south-eastern head of Picton Harbour, in an area originally known as Kaiaua Lagoon.1
During the 1960s the lagoon was reclaimed to create the Marina.2
The marina hosts toilets, showers and laundry facilities for boat owners.
Water is available from all of the wharves and there are bins for rubbish from boats.
The Picton grocery shops are open every day of the week and most of them will provide a delivery service to the marina.

With the worst of the severe weather still to come for Marlborough, Harbourmaster Jake Oliver advises people to avoid heading out on the water and delay travel until it is safe to do so.
If you are on the water, take extra care and wear lifejackets. Expect the wind to shift and change around headlands and bays.

This coastline section only provides shelter in winds from the south-east to the south.Govenors Bay and Whenuanui/Beck's Bay have some shelter from south-west to westerly winds which tend to blow straight along the Grove Arm.In prevailing north to north west winds, this area has the wind blowing towards the shore in what is known as a lee shore. Torea Bay
The entrance is between Ngatawhetawheta and Pihaka Points
Approximately one and a half miles long it is deep until close to shore
The North end of Torea is the terminus of the road to Portage with a wharf and floating jetty, one available for loading and unloading passengers.
North West winds do funnel down the bay causing a short chop to develop. These winds can be gusty at times.
This wharf is frequented by commercial water transport operators.

Major Multisport Event – GodZone
A large multisport event is taking place in Marlborough. Mariners may encounter kayaks and pack rafts in Picton Harbour, Grove Arm, Pelorus Sound, Havelock Channel, Elaine Bay, Tennyson Inlet, Crail Bay, and Kenepuru Sound.
Kayaks and pack rafts may be operating at night. All competitors are required to have lights on during the hours of darkness.
